Terms of Use

Last updated: 27 October 2026

1. About these terms

These terms of use ("Terms") apply to your use of the wasmID website and related services ("the Platform"), operated by شركة وسم الهوية (wasm alhawiyah Company), a single-person limited liability company, Commercial Registration No. 7055407196, Building 4565, Abi Al Qasim Al Salami Street, Al Basatin District, Jeddah 23719, Additional No. 6596, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (short address JETA4565) ("we", "us", "our").

By using the Platform, or by creating an account and confirming that you accept these Terms, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. Accepting electronically (for example ticking a box or pressing a button) is a valid agreement under the Electronic Transactions Law. If you do not agree, please do not use the Platform.

Some parts of the Platform have extra terms that apply on top of these Terms: the ownership transfer contract (section 3), and the agreements for clinics and vet reviewers (section 8). If extra terms and these Terms conflict, the extra terms apply to that service.

2. What the Platform is, and what it is not

  • The Platform is a digital pet identity service: a digital pet passport linked to the pet's microchip, a lost-pet tag for the collar, a safe change of owner through an electronic contract, a directory where you can find a vet clinic and request a visit, and an Animal Encyclopedia of general articles. More services may be added later.
  • What the Platform offers. We add features over time; a feature appears on the Platform only once it is offered. When you sign in, your account is stored on our servers, and the steps you take (a change of owner, a visit request to a clinic, a message to a pet's owner) reach the other person. Forms that say they are sent to us (such as feedback) reach us.
  • The Platform is independent. It is privately owned. It is not a government service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for any government body, including the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA), customs, Nafath or Tawakkalna. Any connection with official systems is a possible future plan only and depends on permission from those bodies.
  • A wasmID digital passport is not an official government document. It is the owner's own record. It does not replace any licence, permit, vaccination certificate or health certificate issued by an authority or a licensed veterinarian.
  • We are a technology platform. Clinics and vets on the Platform are independent. We do not provide veterinary care. We act for no user and are nobody's agent or broker.
  • We never own or keep any pet. wasmID does not own, keep, house, control, sponsor or guarantee any pet shown on the Platform, and never has physical control of one. Pet details come from their owners. The owner, or whoever actually controls the pet, is its keeper: they are responsible for supervising it and for harm it causes. We are not responsible for harm a pet causes to anyone or suffers, except where it results from our own fraud, gross error or breach of a duty we owe you under these Terms, as far as the law allows.

3. Microchip identity, change of owner and missing pets

  • Your name first. A pet's ID carries its owner's name, so you add your full name (in Arabic and English) before you add a pet.
  • Verified means a vet clinic checked it. A microchip number you type in shows as "not confirmed" until a vet clinic scans the chip or confirms it from its own implant records. We never accept photos or uploads as proof. A confirmed number can be changed only by a clinic.
  • Confirming without joining. If your clinic is not on the Platform, you can send it a one-time confirmation link. The clinic confirms or reports a mismatch through that link without creating an account. A clinic that confirms is responsible for checking the chip properly. If the person who answers your link is signed in on the team of an approved clinic whose licence we have checked, the answer counts at once. We log it, and we may reverse it if it proves wrong. Answers without sign-in wait for our check. A licence-checked clinic you booked can also confirm the chip at an agreed or done visit, and you get an email. A clinic member can never confirm their own pet.
  • Typing the number twice. When you add or change a chip number, you type it twice so mistakes are caught. You are responsible for entering it correctly.
  • Change of owner. Only the registered owner of a clinic-confirmed chip can start a change of owner, by inviting the new owner by email. Each of you acts from your own account. Nafath is a planned integration only and is not connected. Before anyone signs, a licensed clinic must examine the pet for the sale and confirm a "pre-sale clinic check" through wasmID; the check is valid for 14 days. For animals that need it, a clinic-confirmed rabies vaccination must be valid on the day of signing. The current owner signs first, then the new owner. Ownership moves only when the new owner confirms they have received the pet. A contract still waiting for signatures closes by itself 30 days after it was created. Either of you can cancel before handover, except that once the current owner has confirmed the price was received, cancelling is done through a reported problem that we review. Either of you can report a problem before handover, which pauses the handover until we have looked at it; we do not decide who owns the pet or disputes about the price.
  • What it costs. The new owner pays the agreed price directly to the current owner by bank transfer; wasmID never receives or holds the price, and the current owner confirms in their account that it arrived. Separately, each owner pays wasmID their own service fee for authenticating the contract and keeping the permanent ownership record (at least ⃁ 25 each; the fee on your contract may be lower or zero under an offer stated there). Each sees their own fee before they sign, and pays it after both have signed and wasmID has checked the contract. The amount shown is all you pay; if wasmID registers for VAT, VAT is inside that same amount. The contract is authenticated once wasmID has checked it and every fee due is recorded, and each owner gets their own copy by email. If one owner's fee is recorded and the other's has not arrived within 3 working days (Sunday to Thursday) of wasmID asking for the fees, or by a later day that wasmID sets and tells both owners, the contract closes; we may also close a contract where no fee has arrived. If a contract closes before it is authenticated, whoever closes it (either owner, wasmID, or the fee deadline), a fee already paid is refunded to the account it came from. When signing, the current owner gives the IBAN the price goes to. The new owner sees it, with the current owner's name and the contract reference, only once the contract is authenticated, and it is deleted at handover. Before paying, the new owner should check that the account name their bank shows matches the current owner; if it does not, report a problem instead of paying. The fee pays for authenticating the contract and keeping the permanent record, which is done when the contract is authenticated, so it is not refunded after that, whoever cancels, unless the law gives you a right to cancel or we fail to provide the service. We may change the fee for future contracts; a contract already started keeps the fees it was created with.
  • Owners, not traders. In every change of owner, both people declare that they are private pet owners, not traders, and that the pet is not a commodity they trade in. wasmID only records and facilitates the transfer and is not responsible for either party breaking the law. A false declaration or any breach is dealt with under the laws of Saudi Arabia: we may suspend the account and inform the competent authorities.
  • Signing electronically. The full contract is public at Change-of-owner contract and is linked on your contract page. You sign from your own account by ticking that you have read the full contract and the declaration and agree to them, then pressing "Sign the contract". You agree that this binds you like a handwritten signature. We keep a record that cannot be edited of the time of each signature, the account it came from and the version of the contract, we email you a confirmation, and you can save or print your final copy at any time. This is not a certified signature and not Nafath.
  • wasmID does not list animals for sale. There are no pet listings on wasmID. A sale that two people have already agreed elsewhere can only be recorded through the change-of-owner contract; the price is settled between them, outside wasmID. Each party remains responsible for any licence or permit that applies to them.
  • Missing pets and the lost-pet tag. You can make a lost-pet tag for your pet (a QR code for the collar, printed or engraved). The QR holds a short code made by wasmID, never the microchip number. Anyone who scans the tag sees only the pet's name, kind of animal, sex, its photo if you added one and whether you have marked it missing. They never see your name, phone number, address or the chip number. They can send you a message through wasmID, and may choose to add their own mobile number (for a call or WhatsApp), their own email and a place, which you will then see. We email you only to say that a message has arrived, never with its text. You can mark your pet missing, pause the tag (the code stays the same, and a tag you already printed works again when you switch it back on), or change the code. When you change the code you choose why: if the tag is lost, the old code keeps passing finders' messages to whoever owns the pet at that time; if it was misused, the old code stops and a finder is told to take the pet to a vet clinic to read its chip. We keep old codes on our servers for this, and a code is never given to another pet. If the pet changes owner, the tag moves with the pet: later messages go to the new owner, and earlier ones stay with the owner who received them. Use a finder's contact details only to get your pet back: do not publish them, pass them on or use them for anything else. To protect owners and finders, we limit how many messages one person can send. A change of owner cannot start or be completed until the pet is found. Do not misuse a missing report or a tag, for example to block a lawful change of owner.
  • Looking up a chip. Lost and found runs through the lost-pet tag; the microchip is the pet's identity. Anyone may look up a chip number on the "Found a pet?" page, but only a chip that a clinic has confirmed shows, with only the kind of animal and whether it is missing. Nobody can message an owner from a chip number. A licence-checked clinic on wasmID can tell the owner that it has the pet. If a second account types a chip number that is already registered, our team is told so it can find out who owns the pet. Every lookup is logged without the number or the person who looked.
  • Ownership history is a platform record, not a legal ruling. It records what the owners did on wasmID. The signed contract and the history are kept permanently and cannot be edited or deleted. It does not decide ownership disputes, which belong to the competent authorities. wasmID records and facilitates the change; it acts for neither owner and is not an agent or broker for either of them. If two people claim the same pet, we may lock the record while the matter is checked.

4. Accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, or have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. Clinic and vet reviewer accounts must be run by someone at least 18 and legally able to offer their services.

  • You sign in with your email and a password you choose after your first sign-in code; a code sent to your email still works if you forget it. Codes expire after a few minutes. Sign-in by mobile number or with Google is not available for real accounts yet and will be added later. We send you the emails that are part of the service: sign-in codes, a notice when your password changes, the steps of a change of owner, visit requests and answers, and a short note when someone has sent a message about your pet.

  • You must give accurate information, keep it up to date and keep access to your email, phone and Google account, and your password, secure. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us straight away at contact@wasmid.com if you think someone else has used it.

  • You may add only pets that you own or legally care for.

  • You keep your pet's health log. Its entries are marked as entered by you, and neither wasmID nor any clinic checks them. For the health log, a clinic confirms only the microchip (and, when a pet changes owner, the rabies-vaccination expiry date); these confirmations cannot be edited or deleted afterwards, and a correction is added as a new entry.

  • One person, one account. You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, with notice where reasonable.

  • Pausing an account. We may pause an account while we look into a problem, a suspected breach of these Terms or a legal request. A paused account can sign in and read its data but cannot change it or take part in a change of owner. We tell you why and you can ask us to review it.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  1. Break any law of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (or of the country you use the Platform from), or use the Platform for fraud.
  2. Enter false identity data, claim a pet or microchip that is not yours, or pretend to be a clinic, vet or another person.
  3. Post content that is harmful, abusive, hateful, offensive, misleading, or that breaks public morals or anyone's rights.
  4. Offer animals for sale, adoption or breeding on the Platform. A sale already agreed between two people goes only through the change-of-owner contract (section 3).
  5. Post other people's personal data without permission.
  6. Write fake feedback or feedback about a visit that did not happen, or pressure anyone to change their feedback.
  7. Take a change of owner that started on the Platform off the Platform to avoid its protections or fees.
  8. Upload viruses, try to access accounts or systems without permission, misuse a clinic confirmation link, overload the Platform, or copy data from it with automated tools.
  9. Use the Platform to send advertising or spam.
  10. Misuse a lost-pet tag or its messages: for example, use a finder's phone number or email for anything other than getting the pet back, pass it to others, send an owner messages that are not about their pet, or mark a pet missing when it is not.

We may remove content or restrict access that breaks these rules. We may use automated tools to flag possible fraud for human review; a person makes the final decision.

6. No medical advice

  • Information on the Platform, including Animal Encyclopedia articles and reminders, is general guidance only.
  • It is not veterinary advice, a diagnosis, a treatment plan, a medicine dose or a prescription, and it is not a substitute for examination by a licensed veterinarian.
  • In an emergency, or if your pet seems unwell, contact a veterinarian immediately.
  • Health and vaccine information applies only to the kind of animal it is written for. Do not apply guidance for one species to another.
  • Where an article says it was reviewed by a named veterinarian, that vet checked it for general accuracy at the date shown. Veterinary knowledge changes; always follow your own vet's advice.

7. Clinics and visit requests

  • Each clinic and vet is responsible for its own services, prices, licences, staff and care, and for following the laws that apply to it. The clinic, not us, is responsible for the care your pet receives.

  • A "verified" badge means only that we checked the clinic's licence and registration. It is not a guarantee of quality.

  • We do not rank clinics by quality and do not publish "best" or "top" lists. Directory order is neutral unless you choose a filter or sort.

  • Visit requests. When signed in, you can ask a clinic on wasmID for a visit: you choose your pet, the service, a day and a time. A request is not a booking until the clinic accepts it; the clinic accepts it, offers another time (which you can accept, or cancel the request) or declines. A request the clinic does not answer within 48 hours closes, and we tell you. You can also contact a clinic directly by the phone, WhatsApp or email it published.

  • Paying. The clinic sets its own prices and you pay it at the visit. We do not take payment for clinic visits.

  • Sharing with clinics is your choice. When you send a visit request, the clinic sees what is needed for that visit: your name and phone number, your pet's name, kind, age and whether it has a microchip (never the number), and your note.

  • Cancelling or changing. You can cancel from My account. You can cancel a visit request before the visit, and the other side is told by email. Each clinic sets its own cancellation policy. To change the time, cancel and ask again.

  • Clinic invitation links. A clinic may give you its own invitation link or QR code. If you create your account through it, we record which clinic's link you used. The clinic sees only how many people signed up through its link and how many of them added a pet, never who. It sees your pets and details only if you send it a visit request or a confirmation link. Using a link does not oblige you to use that clinic.

8. Clinics and vets who join

  • Clinics can apply to join free of charge, to be found by owners and to confirm chips. The application asks for the details of the listing and for the clinic's acceptance of the clinic listing agreement. We check the clinic's licence before it appears, and ask for copies of its clinic licence from the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, its commercial registration, its municipal licence and the responsible vet's practice licence; applying does not guarantee a listing. An approved clinic's name, city, district, services, animals treated and the contacts it chose are shown publicly, and it can ask us to change or remove them. We may pause or remove a listing as that agreement says. Clinics must confirm chips, checks and vaccinations only for pets they actually examined. A clinic account has two users (the manager and one more person). The clinic is responsible for letting in only people who work for it, and for what they do in the account. A chip, pre-sale check or vaccination confirmed by a signed-in member of an approved clinic counts at once; we log it with the clinic and the account, and we may reverse it if it proves wrong or the clinic's licence is suspended. We may pause a clinic account while we look into a problem.
  • Vet reviewers. Licensed vets can apply to review Encyclopedia articles under a separate vet reviewer agreement. The role is unpaid: in return, a reviewer who approves an article is named on it ("Medically reviewed by Dr …") and agrees to this in that agreement. We verify the licence before any name is shown. Before starting, a reviewer agrees the terms of the role with wasmID. Applying does not create a contract or a promise of work.

9. Prices and payments

  • Prices are in Saudi riyals (SAR) and include VAT where it applies.
  • Any cost wasmID charges is shown to you before you pay: the change-of-owner service fee is shown inside the contract. Clinics set their own prices and you pay them at the visit.
  • The change-of-owner service fee is paid to wasmID, today by bank transfer; when a licensed payment company is connected it will process the fee, and we will not store full card details. The price of a pet is never paid through wasmID.
  • The service fee is not refunded once the contract is authenticated, unless the law gives you a right to cancel or we fail to provide the service (see section 3).

10. Content and feedback you send us

  • "Content" means anything you submit, such as feedback, questions, pet photos, notes and profile text.
  • You keep ownership of your content. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display and use it to run and improve the Platform. When you send feedback through the feedback form, it is emailed to our team and used only to improve the Platform.
  • You confirm that you have the right to submit your content and that it does not break section 5.

11. Reporting content

If you think anything on the Platform is false, defamatory, breaks the law or breaks your rights, report it to contact@wasmid.com. We will look at it promptly and may hide it while we check, remove it, or keep it and tell you why. Online defamation is a crime under the Anti-Cyber Crime Law.

12. Intellectual property

The Platform, its design, text, articles, illustrations, logos and software belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. You may view and share pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, sell, republish or build on them without our written permission. Names and logos of third parties belong to their owners and are shown only to identify them.

13. Availability and changes to the service

We aim to keep the Platform available, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, pause or stop any feature.

Some things happen automatically: a visit request that the clinic does not answer closes after 48 hours, and a change-of-owner contract still waiting for signatures closes 30 days after it was created. An automatic job runs every hour to do this and to send the emails that go with it.

The Platform links to other websites and apps, for example official government pages, Google Maps and Hudhud for directions, Google sign-in and WhatsApp. Their own terms and privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for them.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia:

  1. The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available".
  2. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for services, care, advice or content provided by clinics, vets, payment providers or other users, or for decisions you make based on general guidance on the Platform.
  3. We are not responsible for indirect losses, such as loss of profit or data, that were not reasonably foreseeable.
  4. Our total liability to you for claims under these Terms is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or SAR 500 if you paid none.

We remain responsible for our own duties under these Terms: running the Platform with reasonable care and keeping the records we promise.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including for fraud, intentional wrongdoing or gross error, any liability for a harmful act that the law does not allow to be excluded, or your rights as a consumer.

16. Indemnity

If you break these Terms or the law, or your pet or your content causes harm you are responsible for under the law, and a third party makes a claim against us as a result, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent the law allows. We will tell you about such a claim promptly and give you the chance to respond. In the same way, we cover your reasonable losses if a third party makes a claim against you because we broke these Terms or the law.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, including the E-Commerce Law and its Implementing Regulations, the Electronic Transactions Law, the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law, the Anti-Cyber Crime Law and the Personal Data Protection Law. We will first try to settle any dispute amicably; contact us at contact@wasmid.com. If it is not settled within 30 days, the competent courts in Jeddah will have jurisdiction, unless the law gives you as a consumer the right to bring a claim elsewhere. Nothing here removes your right to complain to the Ministry of Commerce or another competent authority.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will change the "Last updated" date and tell you about important changes by email or on the Platform at least 14 days before they take effect, unless a change is needed sooner by law or for security. A change of owner already started keeps the Terms it began under. If you do not agree, you may close your account at any time, free of charge; if you keep using the Platform after the changes take effect, the new Terms apply.

These Terms are available in Arabic and English. If the two versions differ, the Arabic version prevails.
