Pet ownership transfer contract

Last updated: 26 October 2026

This is the full text of the contract the current owner and the new owner sign when a pet changes owner through wasmID. The details of your own transfer (both names, the pet and its chip number, the price, the date of the clinic's check, and each party's own service fee) are shown on your contract page in your account and are part of this contract. Before signing, each party confirms they have read this text in full and agree to it, and the version they agreed to is recorded with their signature.

1. The parties

The current owner, who hands the pet over, and the new owner, who receives it, as named on the contract page. Each confirms they are 18 or older and able to contract, and that the name and email on their wasmID account are their own.

2. The pet

The pet shown on the contract page by its name, species and microchip number, confirmed by a veterinary clinic on wasmID.

3. The sale

A change of owner through wasmID is always a sale. The price is the agreed amount shown on the contract page, in Saudi riyals.

4. The current owner's declaration

They are the pet's registered owner and have the right to transfer it; the pet is not reported missing or stolen; and what they said about its health is true as far as they know. A licensed veterinary clinic examined the pet for the sale, and that check is valid for 14 days from its date. For animals that need a rabies vaccination: it is valid on the day of signing, as confirmed by a clinic.

5. The new owner's declaration

They have seen the pet's details and the check, accept the pet as it is, and take full responsibility for its care from handover.

6. Owners, not traders

Both declare they are private owners, not traders, that the pet is not a commodity they trade in, and that each is responsible for any licence or permit the law requires of them.

7. Price and payment

The new owner pays the price directly to the current owner by bank transfer. wasmID does not receive or hold the price and is not a party to it. The current owner confirms in their account that the money arrived before handover.

8. Electronic signature

Both agree that signing in to their own account (with a code sent to their email or with their password), then ticking the declaration and pressing "Sign the contract", is their electronic signature and binds them like a handwritten one. wasmID keeps a record that cannot be edited of the time of each signature, the account it came from and the version of this contract, and sends each signer a confirmation by email. The current owner signs first, then the new owner; the contract cannot be changed after either has signed.

9. Authentication and the service fee

After both have signed and wasmID has checked the contract, each party pays wasmID their own service fee, as shown to them on their contract page before they signed (at least ⃁ 25 each; the fee on your contract may be lower or zero under an offer stated there), for authenticating the contract and keeping the permanent ownership record. The amount shown is all you pay; if wasmID registers for VAT, VAT is inside that same amount. The contract is authenticated when wasmID has checked it and every fee due is recorded (at once after the check if no fee is due), and each party gets their own copy by email. If one party's fee is recorded and the other's has not arrived within 3 working days (Sunday to Thursday) of wasmID asking for the fees, or by a later day that wasmID sets and tells both parties, the contract closes; wasmID may also close a contract where no fee has arrived. If the contract closes before it is authenticated, whoever closes it (either party, wasmID, or the fee deadline), a fee already paid is refunded to the account it came from. Each fee pays for authenticating the contract and keeping the record, which is done at authentication, so it is not refunded after that, whoever cancels, unless the law gives a right to cancel or wasmID fails to provide the service.

10. Handover and when ownership moves

Ownership moves when the new owner confirms in wasmID that they have received the pet. The pet is then registered to them and the transfer is added to the permanent ownership history. Until then the current owner is the pet's keeper and is responsible for it; from then on the new owner is. wasmID is never the pet's keeper.

11. Cancelling and time limit

Either party may cancel before handover, except that once the current owner has confirmed the price was received, cancelling is done through a reported problem that wasmID reviews (section 12). A contract still waiting for signatures closes by itself 30 days after it was created, and the pet stays with the current owner. Returning the price after a cancellation is between the two parties. A service fee already paid is refunded as section 9 says.

12. Problems

Either party may report a problem to wasmID before handover; the handover then waits until it is settled. wasmID looks only at what the parties recorded on the platform and does not rule on who owns the pet or on the price.

13. wasmID's role

wasmID only records and facilitates the transfer. It acts for neither party and is not an agent or broker for either; it is not the seller, the buyer or a middleman for the price; it never owns, keeps or controls the pet; it does not examine or deliver the pet or guarantee its health; and it is not responsible for either party breaking the law. The ownership history is a platform record, not an official deed, and replaces no licence or government document.

14. Data

wasmID processes both parties' data to carry out this contract and keep the ownership history, under the privacy policy. Each party sees the other's name in the contract. Once the contract is authenticated the new owner also sees the bank account (IBAN) the current owner gave for the price; it is erased at handover or cancellation.

15. Law and courts

This contract is governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Disputes between the two parties about the pet or its ownership are for the competent authorities and courts. Disputes with wasmID follow section 17 of the terms of use. It is made in Arabic and English; the Arabic text prevails.
